Types Of Batteries And Their Uses

Mostly each and every electronic device is having the battery power to adapt the electric power. It doesn’t matter what kind of device battery is it may be laptop battery, call phone battery, camcorder battery, and remote control battery and so on. Whatever it is you need to know the various kinds of batteries, types and their uses.

SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) Battery:

The SLA battery is otherwise called as gel battery, the main feature of SLA battery is that it doesn’t have to be kept standing in order to work and to be carrying out in extreme condition even the temperature is high or under vibration. You can use the SLA batteries in wheelchairs, scooters and uninterruptedly power sources. Compare to other batteries, SLA batteries are best to keep charging it more frequently.

NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) Battery:

The NiMH battery is the best choice for several kinds of mobile phones, camcorders, digital cameras, GPS systems, PDAs other many other personal electronic devices. These batteries are also used in hybrid cars. The Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery is that very similar to Nickel cadmium (NiCd) battery. Compare to NiCd battery it has double or triple the capacity of power charge. NiCd batteries are not overcharged the NiMH batteries.

NiCd (Nickel cadmium) Battery:

The NiCd rechargeable batteries are commonly used in toys, electronic devices and power tools. Even though some the people have to prefer NiMH batteries to NiCd batteries. The NiCd battery provides almost the same voltage level all the way through its lifetime and the costs also less than NiMH batteries.

LiION (Lithium Ion) Battery:

The LiION battery is the newest rechargeable batteries. It has more capacity and is used in wireless phones, camcorders and notebook computers. The costs of LiION batteries are very expensive than compare to others. The disadvantage of LiION battery is that the length of their life span can be calculated from the date of manufacture, before from the number of times the battery is charged and discharged. The LiION batteries are kept in the refrigerator allow them to warm to room temperature before using them and it is best to use regularly charged.

Alkaline Batteries:

The alkaline batteries are not appropriate for the rechargeable with a battery charger. But it offers a large current over a long time of period.  They have much higher density compared to others. These alkaline batteries are used in CD players and transportable radios.

Carbon Zinc Batteries:

Even the low-drain condition the carbon Zinc batteries are very reliable for over long times of the period. The drawbacks of these batteries are short shelf life, low capacity leakage when it’s empty. These batteries are used for garage door openers or clocks. The Carbon Zinc battery is not appropriate for rechargeable.
